Sticklepath is one of our famous Devonian stops along The Trafalgar Way! Home to the wonderful wall art above, depicting Horatio Nelson's famous signal at the Battle of Trafalgar - England Expects That Every Man Will Do His Duty!

We thought we'd find out a little more about this little village!

Sticklepath is on the ege of Dartmoor, fairly close to Okehampton (another of our Trafalgar Way plaque locations) and it's thought the village has existed since the 11th century!

The road running through the village was, for centuries, the main coaching route west from Exeter and travellers of all walks of life passed through.

Within the village you can also visit The Finch Foundry, owned by the National Trust. It was originally used to produce agricultural and mining hand tools and at its peak produced around 400 tools a day.

There are two pubs in the village, and this artwork sits opposite The Devonshire Inn. Can you spot the nautical decor by th front entrance? There are some lovely walks to be had from here besides the River Taw along the Valley towards the neighbouring village of Belstone, ‘gateway’ to  Dartmoor and with wonderful views from the Tor!
